Jiang, Yaomin

PhD Student

My research interests focus on cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying social learning in humans. In my current project, I aim at understanding how complex social relationships are represented in the brain and integrated with other social information to guide decision-making. To this end, my project brings together strands of behavioral economics, functional neuroimaging, and social network experiments in lab settings. I have bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Psychology from Peking University.

Mi, Qingtian

PhD Student

My research focuses on human communication, in particular, how humans encode, transfer, and decode ideas and information among one another in a seemingly efficient and effortless manner. My ongoing projects investigate the neurocomputational mechanism by which the human brain reads between the lines, combining methods from decision neuroscience, machine learning, and experimental and computational linguistics. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Peking University.

Wang, Cong

PhD Student

I am interested in information foraging in the face of search cost, especially how and why individuals deviate from optimal decision rules. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Sun Yat-sen University.

Yu, Guihua

Undergrad RA

What interests me at the moment is why and how people sometimes change their attitude towards particular things, places, or people in a seemingly irrational manner. In our current project, Yaomin and I are trying to develop computational models to predict preference changes in a range of human behavior. I am an undergrad student majoring in psychology and minoring in management at Peking University.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED WITH OUR WORK?

If you’re excited about working at the interface of social and biological sciences –– studying human nature using neuroscience, game theory, and computational modeling, this is the lab you need to be in! We are currently looking for talented postdocs and graduate students with training in computer science, mathematics, physics, economics, psychology, neuroscience, or appropriate engineering disciplines.

  • PostdocWe are interested in candidates with a background in cognitive neuroscience, behavioral economics, machine learning, linguistics, or related fields. Expertise in natural language processing, EEG/MEG, TMS, eye tracking, and fMRI is particularly welcome. The appointment typically lasts for two years and can be extended contingent upon research performance. Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with experience and qualification.

  • Ph.D. Student: Students interested in our Ph.D. positions are strongly recommended to apply for a short-term research intern in our lab first (e.g. summer intern). Qualified applicants will have the opportunity of working with our graduate students and getting to know the lab better. The length of the intern may vary depending on individual cases.

  • Undergraduate Student: We are happy to offer a research assistantship for talented undergraduate students who are interested in our work and hope to enhance the learning experience through engaging in academic research. Positions are open throughout the year. Students from all majors are welcome to apply.
